Controlling Migration – Lord Bourne Visit. Since May 2018 Healthy Peterborough have been working with migrant communities to deliver lifestyle services as part of the National Controlling Migration programme. Due to the diverse population of Peterborough, we have a number of advisors who work in many languages to deliver a range of services including smoking cessation and weight management; this enables us to target specific groups and apply preventative measures to lower the impact of migration on specific NHS services. As part of a countrywide tour of controlling migration programmes we received a ministerial visit from Lord Bourne on Thursday 18th July. Lord Bourne was particularly pleased to speak to our migrant workers Jolanta and Gosia and get their opinions on programme delivery and how the use of foreign language social media has increased interest in our programmes amongst eastern European communities.
